How it works

From commit to changelog, automatically.

No templates to fill. No release notes to write. Dispatch reads your code history and does the communicating.

Step 1

Connect GitHub once. Everything else is automatic.

Install the Dispatch GitHub App in under 60 seconds. It reads your merged PRs and commits — no webhook config, no YAML files, no CI changes required.

  • Works with any GitHub repo — monorepos included
  • Branch filtering — pick which branch triggers updates
  • Read-only access — Dispatch never writes to your repo

FROM: feat/user-analytics #284, feat/slack-notifs #289

User analytics dashboard — Track weekly active users and retention in one place. The new analytics tab surfaces the metrics that matter most for SaaS growth.

FROM: fix/slow-queries #291, fix/email-encoding #292

Performance & reliability — Query times reduced by 60% for large datasets. Fixed character encoding in digest emails for non-Latin names.

Step 2

AI writes the release notes. You approve in seconds.

Dispatch reads your merged PRs and commit messages, groups them into human-friendly categories, and writes release notes your users actually understand — not commit hashes.

  • Auto-categorizes features, fixes, and breaking changes
  • Translates technical commit messages into plain English
  • Edit or approve in one click before publishing

Step 3

A public changelog page and weekly email digest, delivered.

Every update goes to a beautiful public changelog page users can bookmark — and a weekly digest email to everyone on your list, automatically, every Monday morning.

  • Public changelog at yourapp.dispatch.so/changelog
  • Email digest with your branding — not ours
  • Slack integration — post to your #product channel on ship day

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How does Dispatch connect to GitHub?

Dispatch uses a GitHub App — install it in under 60 seconds, select which repos to monitor, and it starts watching your merged PRs immediately. It has read-only access and never writes to your codebase.

What if my commit messages are messy?

That's exactly what Dispatch is built for. Our AI reads the PR title, description, code diff, and review comments — not just the commit message. Even 'fix bug' commits become readable release notes when there's context from the PR.

Can I edit the AI-generated notes before publishing?

Yes. Every draft goes to your Dispatch dashboard before it's published. You can approve it in one click, or edit any section. Most teams approve without changes — the AI is that good. But it's your changelog, not ours.

How do users subscribe to the digest email?

Dispatch gives you an embeddable subscribe widget (one line of code) and a hosted subscribe page. Existing users can also be imported via CSV. All list management and unsubscribes are handled automatically.

Does this work with monorepos or multiple services?

Yes. You can connect multiple repos and tag entries by service or team. Your public changelog can show all updates together or let users filter by product area. Works well for teams with a main app plus a separate API or mobile client.

What counts as a 'week' for the digest?

Digests go out every Monday at 8 AM in the timezone you set. If nothing shipped that week, no email is sent — we only deliver updates, never empty emails. You can also trigger a digest manually at any time.
